Choosing the right hair color isn't as easy as picking it at random. To find the best color for you, you need to think carefully about what colors work for you and what doesn't. To do this, you must consider both your skin tone and eye color. By reviewing these elements, you will be able to choose a very flattering hair color rather than one that clashes with your face. The perfect hair color will lift your complexion, brighten your face, and even make your hairstyle look better than ever.

We often want to change the color of our hair but are afraid to choose the wrong color or dye to fail. First, you have to know your hair type, and then you have to picture in your mind what you want your hair to look like after you color it, only then can you make a good decision about which color to use.

Choose a hair color that matches your skin tone or you will look unnatural. If you don't care if your hair color is natural like if you want grey-green hair with purple highlights, go dye your hair, but if you want people to think the new color may be natural, consider your skin tone. Too dark or too bright for your complexion can make you look dull or tired. Skin tones can be warm, cool or neutral. Warm skin has brown, hazel or green eyes. If you tan easily, you're likely to have a warm skin tone. By contrast, if you burn easily and have a ruddy color to your skin, you are a cool skin tone. Neutral skin tones usually have no obvious undertones (neither yellow nor pink), therefore, be compatible with most hair colors.

For warm skin, you can usually wear honey blonde hair, chestnut brown, ebony brown-black or copper-red. Cool skin tones can usually be worn in platinum, ash brown, auburn or inky, raven black.

Pay attention to the difference between the color and your natural hair colors. If you have dark brown hair and want to turn blonde hair, choose a warm blonde is the best result. Going to extremes can be harmful to your hair and may require several colors to achieve the desired color. Going from dark to light also takes longer to process and requires more maintenance.

In addition to skin tone, consider eye color. Dark hair is best for people with dark skin and eyes. You rarely see a blue-eyed person with black hair. The color of your eyes can give away who you are, so try matching your skin tone and eye color with hair dye.

For those who want to change their appearance, the best advice is that their skin tone is only one or two shades lighter or darker than it was born to be. If you keep the color you were born with, you will look more natural and when they start to grow, it will be easier to hide their roots.
