You bought a beautiful human hair wig, and now you're ready to show it off. Wearing a wig for the first time can be a strange experience, and it takes a little time to get used to it and figure out what works best for you. To help you on this exciting journey, we've compiled a list of common mistakes people make when wearing wigs for the first time.

1. Failing to wrap your hair

The goal is to have as realistic a wig as possible. One aspect of this is having a wig that sits tight and smooth on your head. So, when preparing your hair, you need to make sure your style is flat. If you don't, your wig will look untidy and people will wonder what's under your wig. If you have short hair, we suggest you comb it back or wear it in a low ponytail. If you have long hair, we suggest you braid it in cornrows, not a ponytail or bun, which will stand out under your wig.

2. Use the wrong wig glue or wig adhesives

When using glue or adhesive to secure the wigs, make sure the glue is dry. Some of them leave a residue, and when you look at them, they look very unattractive and draw attention to your wig. Some also leave the light on your forehead and can make your wig look unnatural. Be sure to read the instructions on how to use the wig glue to make sure you don't have these problems.

3. Not cutting the excess lace

Most beginners don't cut off the excess lace, because they worry that if they cut it too long they will make the wig unwearable. But failing to do so is a disaster in the making. If you're on a romantic date and the wind blows your hair right off your hairline, your date will see the edge of the lace, which is awkward. Don't cut off too much lace. Cut off a small part of the lace, not all at once. Cut off the lace on the front and sides of the wig to avoid jagged edges.

4. Not taking care of the wig

Most people who buy wigs for the first time don't think they need to take care of them because they are not their real hair. Most people let the wig goes to dry and brittle, which reduces the life span of the hair. To keep your wig beautiful for a long time, you should treat it like your natural hair.
